AMP Player – Privacy Policy
Effective date: 8 October 2026
Summary
AMP Player does not collect, store on a server, share or sell any personal data. The app has no internet permission and therefore cannot send any data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Who is responsible
AMP Player is developed by Gess79, a private developer based in Switzerland.

Data processed on your device only
To work as a music player, the app processes the following information locally on your device. None of it leaves the device unless you actively share it (see “Sharing diagnostic logs”).
- Music library: titles, artists, albums, durations and file locations of the audio files on your device, read through Android's media library.
- Playlist folders: the folders you choose for playlist files (m3u/xspf). The app only gets access to the folders you select, and you can remove this access at any time in the settings.
- Playback state: current song, position, queues, shuffle order per playlist and folder, and favorites.
- Loudness analysis (optional): measured loudness values for your songs, used for volume leveling. Your audio files are never modified.
- Settings: your choices such as language and playback options.
- Diagnostic log: a technical log of app events (for example playback start and stop, Bluetooth connection events, file names of played songs, errors). It is kept in the app's private storage and limited in size.
All of this data is stored in the app's private storage. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data. The app does not use Android cloud backup.
Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Music and audio / storage | Find and play the music files on your device. |
| Notifications | Show playback controls and the progress of the loudness analysis. |
| Nearby devices (Bluetooth) | Detect when your car or headphones connect or disconnect, so playback can pause and resume reliably. The app does not scan for devices and does not use your location. |
| Foreground service, wake lock | Keep music playing while the screen is off and run the loudness analysis in the background. |
Sharing diagnostic logs
In the settings you can choose to share the diagnostic log, for example to report a problem. This only happens when you tap the button. Android then lets you pick an app (for example email), and you decide who receives the log. The log can contain file names of your songs. Logs sent to the developer are only used to fix problems and are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Third parties
The app contains no third-party services for advertising, analytics or crash reporting. If you install the app from Google Play, Google processes data in connection with the download according to its own privacy policy. This website is hosted on GitHub Pages; GitHub may process technical data such as your IP address when you visit it.
Children
The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because no personal data reaches the developer, there is normally nothing to access or delete. If you have sent the developer a log or an email, you can ask for information about it or request its deletion at the contact address above.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
